Help Save our Forests! Your Urgent Support Needed by 31st July!!

Despite the recent public outcry forcing the government's hand to drop the proposal to sell-off the UK's Forestry Commission 635,000 acre estate the fight to save our forests is not yet over.

The Independent Panel on Forestry (that was formed following the sell-off proposal being dropped) is gathering public opinion as to the future direction on the ownership and potential usage of the UK's forestry. The deadline for submissions is the 31st July.

If you use any of the UK's forests for recreation (biking, walking) or simply recognize the importance of the forests for wildlife and the environment then take a few moments to email the panel. Every email will help to enforce the importance that the general public place on our forests.

Help to support our forests by sending your opinion to the panel:

1. Email To: forestrypanel@defra.gsi.gov.uk
2. Email Subject:
Independent Panel on Forestry – Call for Views
3. Answer the following questions:

• What do forests mean to you?

• What is your vision for the future of England's forests and woods?

• What do you feel to be the benefits of forests and woods to you a. personally, b. society as a whole, c. the natural environment, and d. the economy?

• Suggestions of practical solutions and good practice.

• What do you see as the priorities and challenges for policy about England's forests and woods?

2012 Olympic Mountain Biking Venue Looking Good

Just saw this on the Bikemagic site. That XC course is looking good - helped by the sunshine we have been having recently. I'm hoping that the tickets for the mountain biking are somewhat easier to get hold of than the track cycling events.
